Group Biome Research Project

Each group of 4-5 students researches one of the following biomes:

• Tropical Rain Forest
• Savanna (Tropical Grassland)
• Desert
• Temperate Grassland
• Temperate Deciduous Forest
• Coniferous Forest (Taiga)
• Tundra

Each group produces:

1. Written report

2. Poster

3. Oral report

Each Student is responsible for:

• Researching and writing about 1 animal in the biome
• Researching and writing about an assigned 2nd topic (climate, location, plants, culture or current issue)
• Helping create the poster
• Giving an oral presentation of what they learned to the class
• Helping and supporting their group members throughout the project

Student grades are a mix of their individual effort and the group’s overall report. Each student is graded on:

• The notes they turn in for their animal and 2nd topic
• The portion of the report they were responsible for writing
• The quality of their writing
• The overall grade the group receives on the written report
• The overall grade the group receives on the poster
• Their oral presentation to the class
